Oral Laxative: these are medicines taken by mouth to encourage bowel movement to relieve constipation. There are several different types of oral laxatives and they work in different ways. Since directions for use are different for each type, it is important to know which one you are taking. The two main types are bulk-formers and hyperosmotics.

Enema: Limited to one foot of colon, is the insertion of a liquid into the rectum or colon by way of the anus. There are different types of enema - therapeutic enema which is an enema that cleans out the colon or rectum, relieves constipation, or treats diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease. And the diagnostic enema, which is an enema that helps diagnose certain conditions of the colon or rectum, including abdominal pain, bleeding symptoms, and ulcerative colitis.

Colon irrigation: Cleanses six feet of colon from the rectum and helps to reduce build-up pressure due to fermentation and putrefaction. This is similar to the enema but involves much more water. While you lie on a table or bed, a low-pressure pump or a gravity-based reservoir flushes several gallons of water through a small tube inserted into your rectum. After the water is in the colon, the therapist may massage your abdomen. Then the water is released like a regular bowel movement; the process flushes out the fluids and waste. The therapist may repeat the process, and a session may last up to an hour.
To complete the therapy, the therapist may use a variety of water pressures and temperatures and may or may not combine water with enzymes, herbs, coffee, or probiotics - supplements containing beneficial bacteria.
