Set on the 23rd floor of The Peninsula New York, Salon de Ning just debuted a new Hamptons-inspired look for its alfresco lounge this summer. Crisp linens, oversized umbrellas and brightly coloured potted flowers give the terrace, which overlooks Fifth Avenue's sparkling decadence, an air of the beachside resort. What the location lacks in sea breeze it makes up with refreshments like the newly introduced Island in the Sky cocktail, a tropical mix of rum, coconut water and cinnamon. The adjacent indoor bar continues its 1930s Shanghai Deco theme with an eclectic art collection and Chinese screens On Tuesday evenings, DJ Gillian Sagansky scratches groove-inducing tunes till 10pm.
