Approximately 160 years after the first wave of Chinese arrived in Jamaica, the Chinese contribution to the country's popular music was recognised.
Eleven persons were honoured on Saturday evening at the Chinese Benevolent Association on Hope Road in St Andrew during the 17th Tribute to the Greats awards show.
In addition to the awardees, the ceremony highlighted the Chinese impact in various areas of the music industry including sound systems, record shops, recording studios, dance venues, nightclubs and radio stations.
