An amazing array of colour and sound have taken over the streets as crowds welcomed the start of the Year of the Monkey.
Loud cheers greeted the arrival of the two 175-ft long dragons, which after snaking through the square wound its way along Princess Street to Chinatown.
On Saturday, the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square hosted a free Chinese New Year-themed family day, while Chiswick House Gardens launched the UK debut of the Magical Lantern Festival on Wednesday February 3rd.
From then it moves to Chinatown, and at 2pm a lion and unicorn will bless businesses in the district, and there'll be two stages full of entertainment in Chinatown and Albert Square.
There's also huge craft and food fair with over 60 stalls, and a funfair on Charlotte Street during the whole day .
The display, which included a 66-metre long dragon, runs until March 6th.
Puppeteers helped bring the dragon to life as it danced away from the town hall while firecrackers were set off around the streets.
Large crowds packed the streets to see them on their way while others enjoyed a variety of attractions including markets, food stalls and workshops feature Chinese disciplines.
