Olympic Sprinter Tyson Gay's Daughter Shot and Killed at Kentucky Restaurant Zjyrxj10

Trinity Gay, the 15-year-old daughter of U.S. Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay, was shot and killed early Sunday morning. Trinity, who was also a track star, died shortly after being struck in the neck at a Cook Out in Lexington.

A grieving Tyson, who was born and raised in Lexington, told just 18 yrs old "She didn't make it. I'm so confused. She was just here last week for fall break. It's so crazy. I have no idea what happened." Tyson also stated that he was very close to his daughter and will be flying back to his native city on Sunday.

Lexington police responded to a call reporting a shooting at the eatery just before 4 a.m. Gunfire was reportedly exchanged between a pair of vehicles, which then quickly sped off. Trinity was in neither vehicle and may have been a bystander. She was taken to the University of Kentucky hospital and was pronounced dead just over an hour later at 5 a.m.
Police believe they found one of the cars that was connected with the shooting, and are currently questioning two "persons of interest." They're also actively searching for the other car involved.

Though she was just a high school sophomore, Trinity had already been the state runner-up for the 100m in middle school and—as a freshman—was the Kentucky Region 6 AAA champion in the 200m, according to Milesplit.
